Ms. Oshale Hill

Oshale Hill is an award-winning educator, mentor, and community advocate whose life's work is centered on empowering youth, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for future generations. With more than 25 years of service dedicated to education, mentorship, and youth development, she is passionate about helping young people discover their potential, overcome adversity, and become confident leaders within their communities.

As a Social Science teacher at Silverado High School in Victor Valley Union High School District, Oshale serves as the Heritage Program Coordinator, where she leads initiatives that promote academic achievement, college and career readiness, leadership development, and equitable access to higher education. Through her work, she has helped students earn college scholarships, meet A–G requirements, and develop the confidence and skills needed to pursue their goals beyond high school.

Beyond the classroom, Oshale is deeply involved in student leadership and school culture. She serves as the advisor for Silverado High School's Black Student Union (BSU) and Zoo Crew, helping students build leadership skills, school pride, and a sense of belonging. She is also an active member of the school's AVID Site Team and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team, collaborating with fellow educators to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Prior to becoming an educator, Oshale built an extensive career in corrections and juvenile justice. Her experiences working with at-risk youth and families inspired her to pursue education as a means of prevention, empowerment, and lasting change. She holds advanced degrees in Criminal Justice, Education, and the Humanities, combining professional expertise with a deep understanding of the social and educational challenges facing today's youth.

Oshale's commitment to service extends well beyond the school campus. Throughout the Inland Empire, she has partnered with and supported numerous nonprofit organizations dedicated to youth development, education, and community empowerment. Her work includes collaborations with the High Desert Youth Center, No Drugs America, High Desert Second Chance, and many other charitable organizations focused on mentoring young people, promoting positive decision-making, and expanding educational opportunities.

As an Executive Board Member of The Upliftment Collective, Oshale is honored to help advance the organization's mission of uplifting communities through education, mentorship, advocacy, and service. She believes that meaningful change begins by investing in people, building authentic relationships, and creating opportunities that allow individuals and families to thrive.

​

Oshale has been recognized for her dedication to education and student success as both the Victor Valley Union High School District Teacher of the Year and the San Bernardino County Social Science Educator of the Year. These honors reflect not only her commitment to academic excellence but also her unwavering belief that every young person deserves an advocate who will challenge, encourage, and believe in their limitless potential.
