Dr. Aleka Jackson-Jarrell is an award-winning educator, community leader, and advocate for educational equity whose life's work is dedicated to empowering youth, strengthening families, and creating opportunities that transform communities. As the Founder of The Upliftment Collective, she leads initiatives that promote literacy, leadership development, cultural enrichment, civic engagement, and educational excellence throughout California's High Desert.

With nearly three decades of experience in education, Dr. Jackson-Jarrell has served as a paraeducator, special education teacher, literacy coach, program manager, and equity coordinator. She currently serves as the Heritage Program Coordinator at Adelanto High School, where she developed and piloted an innovative college- and career-readiness model for VVUHSD that has dramatically increased graduation rates, college readiness, and postsecondary success among African American students. Her work has become a model for educational equity and student achievement.

Driven by the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, Dr. Jackson-Jarrell founded The Upliftment Collective to bring together educators, families, community leaders, businesses, and volunteers to create meaningful pathways for success. Under her leadership, the organization has launched impactful programs within the High Desert.

Dr. Jackson-Jarrell's leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including being named SELPA's Classroom model, Victor Valley Union High School District Teacher of the Year, receiving the California Woman of the Year award for Assembly District 39, and leading a program that earned the prestigious California School Boards Association Golden Bell Award for innovation and educational excellence.

She earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Policy, Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and also holds a Master of Arts in African and African Diaspora Studies from Florida International University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Brandman University. Her scholarship and community work reflect her deep commitment to preserving history, advancing educational justice, and cultivating future generations of leaders.

Above all, Dr. Jackson-Jarrell believes that lasting change is created when communities come together with purpose. Through The Upliftment Collective, she continues to inspire individuals to lead with compassion, embrace their cultural heritage, and work collectively to build stronger, more equitable communities.
